Primary SCITT Salaried Flexible Route Finances
Primary SCITT Salaried is a flexible, part-time/accelerated employment-based route into teaching supported by a National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) grant. There are no tuition fees payable on this training route.
NCTL Salary funding is currently available for:
- Primary General.
- Primary General (with Mathematics).
NCTL funding is used to cover training fees and to make a contribution towards your salary. Salaried trainees on this part-time accelerated route are contracted by their school and paid on point one of the unqualified teacher scale for two or three days a week.
You will spend at least one day each week in central training. You will contribute to the cost of your training either by undertaking a limited teaching commitment each week or by providing some supply cover within your placement school as you become more experienced. The remaining one or two days each week will be spent gaining further school experience and fulfilling course requirements on an unpaid basis.
So what will my training salary be?
The following figures are offered for guidance but are subject to changes in national pay scales and to NCTL funding:
- Standard primary salaried package: £5,031 (0.4 fte for 9 months and 1 week).
- Enhanced primary salaried package: c. £7,500 (0.6 for 9 months and 1 week).
- Primary general (with Mathematics): c. £9,000 (0.7 for 9 months and 1 week).
